ATAVIST - 'II:Ruined' CD (Profound Lore Records)
(2007) Divided into chapters, but works best as one long song, “II:Ruined” is a massive plunge through crawling and pounding vibes of distorted madness, bass-heavy frequencies, methodically played drums, and utterly painful virulent vocals, all filtered through pure unbridled atmosphere and ambience. A sonic scenario where every negative emotion conceived manifests into beyond epic proportions. Featuring guest appearances from Crippled Black Phoenix founder Justin Greaves (ex-Electric Wizard / Iron Monkey), and UK songstress Rose Kemp, “II:Ruined” will appeal to those who worship at the altar of such bands like Khanate, Sunn O))) and Corrupted respectively. This North American edition comes in a gorgeously designed 8-panel digipak and contains an exclusive bonus track. Also, if you look very closely within the layout, you will find Morse Code which leads to exclusive audio online!
(2004) Hyper destructive low-end violence from two of the US underground's most ferocious hate-sludge outfits. A dual assault from feedback-warriors Burmese and battle-sludge titans Fistula. Burmese annihilate everything before them with a lethal blast of low frequency skree tantrums, cough-syrup drenched blastbeats, Whitehouse-worshipping noise and demonic free improvised violence. Think Khanate, Earth and Merzbow in an earth shattering, widow-making basement death match. Ohio 's Fistula batter up with mega heavy sludge, blistering blackened thrash, diseased rock, and some incredibly infectious riffs . Burmese burn you down... Fistula pisses all over the ashes.

GNAW THEIR TONGUES - 'An Epiphanic Vomiting Of Blood' CD (Crucial Blast)
(2008) Reissue of the extremely limited LP (Ltd x 250, Burning World Records) from this ultra heavy act. Harrowing, apocalyptic, bestial ritual music from the deepest, darkest cellars of the Netherlands. Avant black metal, agonising funeral doom and blackened experimental drone noise stab forth again and again until all the blood is spilt and total carnage is all that remains. Pure dread put to music. Recommended for disturbed folk into Abruptum, Khanate, Axis Of Perdition, Swans and Univers Zero. "The bleakness and sheer refusal to allow any light to permeate proceedings alongside the non-linear, sprawling nature of the tracks will alienate a lot of people, but for anyone looking for something truly extreme, you’ll have a hard time beating this" (Kerrang). Hardback digifile.
(2008) First offering from this new UK label. GODDAM OX supply a single exclusive track; at first reminiscent of latter day Earth, snail's pace ethereal sun-baked drone with subtle guitars picked out over minimal drumming, slowly progressing without over-loading the senses until turning to more bleak funereal dirge-doom, before a torturous crescendo of noise and feedback. HADDONFIELD, ILLINOIS on the other hand offer a completely different prospect, armed with a soundtrack perfect for an undead holocaust, inspired by the likes of Goblin and Carpenter... Four tracks of industrial-tinged horrorscapes and ambience. Mastered by James Plotkin (Old, Khanate). Ltd x 300 hand-numbered copies with insert.

HALF MAKESHIFT - 'Omen' CD (Profound Lore Records)
(2008) “Omen” is a devastating observation of formidable experimental ambient drone-like subtle mastery. With moments that remind of Nadja, Sunn O))), Godspeed! You Black Emperor and A Silver Mount Zion, “Omen” is an opus of dense and flowing sonic terrain where cinematic sound visions create vast, desperate, and devastating scenarios, almost serving its purpose like a desperate doomsday soundtrack. Working as a 50+ minute track, but separated into four parts, “Omen” subtly shifts through different emotions and moods; soothing and comforting, yet at the same time virulent and uneasy, and ultimately eerie and chilling. The incredible use of melody via light guitar strums and guitar ambience, melded with waves of static bursts and ivory key tappings, create the build-up that will inevitably come in the form of massive drone rumblings. This is the final work of Half Makeshift. Mastered by James Plotkin (Old, Khanate). 6-panel digipak.
(2007) Three long playing journeys into psych noise dronedom by this Portland / Brooklyn based unit. Heavy, noisy and pummelling with screaming guitars. File next to The Dead C and Sonic Youth. Packed in a double cover centre opening sleeves with the outer shell being a vellum overlay wonderfully executed graphically by Chasse Middaugh. Mastered by James Plotkin (Khanate). Limited to 600 copies.
(2008) Debut album from this sick Kentucky trio. This weapon offers one seriously long untitled track (54 minutes) and is a unique mix of Hybrid minimalist Doom, experimental noise and grim Black Metal. Think about a crossbreeding between Burzum, Khanate and Eyehategod and prepare yourself to one of the nastiest pieces of DOOM ever recorded! Ltd x 1000 copies. Israeli import.
NADJA - 'Bliss From The Emptiness' CD (Profound Lore Records)

SHIFT - 'Have No Fury' 7" (Heidenlarm Sounds)
First release from Swedish Noise artist Shift. The title track initiates proceedings with dark ambient soundscapes and strong industrial rhythms, developing into heavy electronics. THE BODY LOVERS / THE BODY HATERS - 'The Body Lovers / The Body Haters' 2 x CD (Young God Records)
This release provides Michael Gira's side projects The Body Lovers "Number One Of Three" and The Body Haters "34:13" albums (originally released individually in 1998) in one double CD set. A superb line-up (including a long list of ex-Swans member) of Jarboe and Kris Force (Amber Asylum), Bill Rieflin (R.E.M., Pigface, Ministry), James Plotkin (Khanate), Mika Vainio (Pan Sonic), Tore Honore Boe, Phil Puleo (Cop Shoot Cop). "Gira has consistently made atmospheric music that doesn't take you into the atmosphere. It doesn't invite you to escape reality. It suffocates you with the not so comforting truths of humanity, without causing introspection, retrospection, or even speculation". The Body Haters disc contains a new, 10-minute track recorded specifically for this re-release.
