Cindytalk / Philippe Petit / VinylLP CINDYTALK & PHILIPPE PETIT - 'A Question Of Re-Entry' 12" (Lumberton Trading Company)

Two incredible collaborative pieces by France's prolific Philippe Petit and Scottish goup Cindytalk built around piano, electronics, voice and that kinda trans-dimensional murmur and crackle we already love both of them for. Some background info: Cindytalk has existed since the early 1980s and, helmed by founder Gordon Sharp, survivor of the original Scottish punk scene, ex-member of The Freeze and open transgender warrior, has swung from being a band to a solo concern and back again. Philippe Petit, meanwhile, commenced his music career through the running of the highly respected Pandemonium Rdz. and BiP_HOp. A musical travel agent creating adventurous soundworlds, who in recent years has been found on a number of labels in collaboration with a number of eclectic artists including James Johnston, Lydia Lunch, K11 and Cosey Fanni Tutti. Ltd x 300 copies.

Hall Of Mirrors HALL OF MIRRORS - 'Altered Nights' 2 x CD (Malignant Records)

3rd CD from the acclaimed Dark Ambient duo of Andrea Marutti (Amon, Never Known) and Giuseppe Verticchio (Nimh). Spread out over two CDs and totaling over 100 minutes, there’s a lot to absorb here; organic, textural ambience that’s murky and abstract, uncurling like tendrils of smoke before coalescing into a simulacrum of shadowy figures, to turbulent, more immersive post industrial sounds that prowl the depths of subterranean caverns and forgotten, still radioactive ruins. At its core, this is dark ambient, but with its roughly edged, mildly corrosive machine edges and cascading factory whir, Hall Of Mirrors moves into a much more active and cerebral sonic realm. Features contributions from Vestigial, New Risen Throne and K11. A must for fans of Troum, Terra Sancta and early Zoviet France. 6 panel eco-wallet.

K11 / Philippe Petit K11 & PHILIPPE PETIT - 'The Haunting Triptych' CD (Boring Machines)

The Haunting Triptych is a collaboration between K11 (aka Pietro Ribarbelli) and Philippe Petit. A haunted Drone, Electro-acoustic, Dark ambient soundtrack, giving an impression that some ghosts are lurking around… dragging listeners inside a world full of malevolent creatures. Three long drones full, not unlike some works of Lustmord or Nurse With Wound, the sound is heavy and claustrophobic and the downward spiral brings you to the final end, where the last sound you hear before losing your senses is the beast eating your flesh. Over 45mins of music in a spot-varnished ecosleeve.

  K11 K11 - 'Metaphonic Portrait 1230 A.D.' Enhanced CD (Actual Noise)

K11 is the nom de plume of the Italian sound artist Pietro Riparbelli. For "Metaphonic Portrait 1230 A.D.", Riparbelli entered Assisi Cathedral (completed in 1230 A.D.) in the Umbria region of Italy, not far from Riparelli’s hometown of Tuscany. The audio was recorded in the cathedral’s lower basilica, the oldest area, where the relics of St. Francis Of Assisi reside. Utilising short-wave radio as his primary instrument Riparbelli has captured a haunting array of cavernous sounds, displaced signals and found ambiance. With the addition of some voice and organ elements, "Metaphonic Portrait 1230 A.D." sounds not unlike the recordings of Philip Jeck and William Basinski under the influence of Crowleyean Magick and Sacred Geometry. A video shot inside the cathedral by Riparbelli is included on the disc to give the listener a visual picture of the aging structure. As in all K11’s work, the themes of magick, religion, numerology and esotericism are present throughout this reverent document of aural mysticism. Digipak.

K11 K11 - 'The Sacred Wood' CD (Old Europa Cafe)

K11 is Pietro Riparbelli. The sound sources for this album were recorded at the enchanting park of Monsters of Bomarzo. The park of Monsters of Bomarzo was devised by the architect Pirro Ligorio (he completed the Cathedral of Saint Peter in Rome after the death of Michelangelo and built Villa d'Este in Tivoli) on commission of Prince Pier Francesco Orsini, called Vicino, only to vent the heart broken at the death of is wife Giulia Farnese. The park was created in 1552 as "Villa of Wonders" to be the only one of it's kind in the world. Incredible but true, the Park of Monsters remained in complete oblivion till 1954 and only few people was aware about all the fantastic treasures contained within the park for over 400 years ! K11 recorded the soul of this park of Monsters and Wonders and after re-working the sounds he delivers us a trip between reality and dream. Psychedelic, ritual ambient music from an other space, from an other era, from an other land.

Kaula KAULA - 'Avadhuta Gita Chapter I' CD (Doomentia)

Kaula's debut is the vision of one Pietro Riparbelli (K11), an Italian artist who not only composed and recorded the whole thing, but also designed its cryptic booklet and contributed with organs, medianic chants, field recordings and radio signals. Kaula is a whole different beast to K11. What could be seen at first glance at some kind of weird black-metal outburst - including rasping vocals courtesy of Rosy from old-school death-metal warriors Profanal and buzzsaw guitars - soon makes sure all rules go out the window by using various metal (doom, thrash) and non-metal (noise industrial) elements and create a sonic black hole. All lyrics are based here on ancient text called ‘Avadhuta Gita’, said to have been originally written in the IXth century. As a result, all seven tracks have been named after it and are basically about attaining a spiritual state “equivalent to the existence of god”. Mastered by Mell Dettmer (SunnO))), Earth). Digipak with silver foilblock print.

Stein STEIN - 'Haldor' CD (Heimatfolk)

Stein was founded in 2005 as the solo-project of Norbert Strahl, the singer of Seelenthron and founding member of the famous Neofolk outfit Dies Natalis. Norbert's aim with Stein was, to compose songs for the poems of Georg Thom (his grandfather), written between 1911 and 1936. In the beginning of the band, Norbert worked with Jens Vetter of Grünland, who also was ex-Dies Natalis member, but due to the intense work on Seelenthron, Stein stopped in the fledgling stage, until in 2009 the project finally grew to a real band. Finally in summer 2010 the first album "Haldor" was recorded in the Studios of Alexander Meier. "Haldor" is a mix of romantic-paganism and apocalyptic visions, packed in real handmade, classical Neofolk. The album is dedicated to Lorenz Klinger, Norbert's little son, who fights against leukemia with the power of a tiny rock. "Haldor" is Norse and means "Thor's rock". Digipak.

Yannick Franck / Pietro Riparbelli / YERMO YANNICK FRANCK & PIETRO RIPARBELLI - 'Whinny Muir' CD (Silentes Minimal Editions)

A singular long, deep moving, slow and expansive drone-track, built on always changing sonic masses, low frequencies, strong electric-electronic sounds, field recordings, feedback, buzzes, hisses, rough distortion, fading organ chords, cellos and orchestral parts. Alternation of progressive crescendos, ambiental pauses, sudden, dramatic and catchy dynamic shocks. An evolving and extraordinary trip through an obscure sonic journey, convincingly assembled by Italian Pietro Riparbelli (K11, PT-R) and Belgian Yannick Franck. (Y.E.R.M.O., Idiosyncrasia).
