ALDEBARAN - 'Dwellers In Twilight' CD (Parasitic Records)
This Oregon trio (featuring members of YOB, H.C. Minds and Tusks Of Blood) ooze forth a full-length of ugly, monolithic doom / sludge. "As unmoving and defiantly poised as an obelisk that has stood firmly against the ages, Aldebaran have risen from the murky substance of the U.S. Doom scene with a blackened fist of chthonic über-Sludge thrust towards the stagnant gut of convention... 'Dwellers In Twilight' is unquestionably one of the most uncompromising Doom Metal albums I've ever had the pleasure of being mercilessly pummeled by. The album is firmly rooted between Funeral Doom's lack of forgiveness and Sludge's grooving repetition. The resultant mixture is quite an unnerving elixir, proving that the safety of the middle ground is nothing but a mere illusion" (Doom-Metal.com)

ILLUSION OF SAFETY & THOMAS KONER - 'Untitled' 7" (Die Stadt)
Great split release from Chicago's stalwart post-Industrial ensemble Illusion Of Safety and Germany's dronecore specialist Thomas Köner. Illusion Of Safety takes a confrontationist approach by opening their condensed program with a jarring clatter of fragmented film-noir orchestrations that are roughly broken into a nervous drone. Köner's approach is far more subtle, gently pushing forward a sublime drone and allowing it to fade into silence. Released on the occasion of a rare performance that took place on 19 September 2002 at the Lagerhaus, Bremen. Regular edition of 400 copies.

ILLUSION OF SAFETY - 'In Opposition To Our Acceleration' CD (Die Stadt)
"In Opposition To Our Acceleration" begins innocuously enough with tinkled chords from a pianist fractured into quaint glitches. Such aural pleasantries have been deliberately staged as a counterpoint to something far more sinister. Sure enough, a disturbed ambience settles upon the rest of the album as the playful piano tones are replaced by razor sharp piercings coupled with psychoactively eerie drones and scribbles from a microphone across a metal plate. Illusion of Safety actualize their name through a theatrical exploration of "the language of error." Sumptuously packaged in an outsized gatefold pack with several artcards. Ltd x 1000.

ILLUSION OF SAFETY - 'More Violence And Geography' CD (Die Stadt)
This is re-release of the very first Illusion Of Safety LP from 1988 onto CD, including an unreleased 11 minute live bonus track from early 90's. The 11 tracks here display a much rawer and more 'industrial' feel, with the use of harsh found sounds and voices, compared to more recent works. The cover features new artwork by Dan Burke and the CD comes in a professionally-printed gatefold card in a plastic sleeve. Ltd x 700 copies.
