AURA NOCTIS - 'Itineris I' CD (Twilight Records / Gradual Hate Records)
The two feminine characters animating this project, Pilar and Olga, follow a Dark Atmospheric Heavenly Voices direction originating in Arcana, Elend, Dark Sanctuary, Qntal or The Moon and The Nightsprit. The cello, piano and synth sound more atmospheric and dreamlike. The voice sounds like the breath of the forest, hanging over the music and leading the listener into dreamy landscapes. "Itineris I" is an initiatory journey through the most evocative romanticism. Aura Noctis aims to transport us to those places where the mind has never been, arousing fantasy that is latent within us. Their melodies are the hope that drives away the pain.

DARK AGES - 'A Chronicle Of The Plague' LP (Northern Heritage / Freak Animal)
Dark Age's second album continues offering us minimalist Dark Ambient, this time more melodic than before, and inspired on the horrors of the Middle Ages. Between the fall of the Western Roman empire in A.D. 476 and the fall of Constantinople in 1453, Europe was ravaged by plagues and superstition. Greek was largely forgotten, and with it much of the learned texts of antiquity. 'A Chronicle of the Plague' is a musical tale of the terror of 1349, which depopulated entire villages and decimated Europe's human population; the disease was not understood at the time, and therefore it was assumed to have been the wrathful punishment from the Judaeo-Christian Deity. Alas, prayers were of no avail... Project from member of Ukrainian BM act Hate Forest. Ltd x 250 copies.

LEVIATHAN - 'Verräter' 2 x CD (Tumult)
Pure, primitive, cult, home recorded evil! Two discs, 22 tracks, 143 minutes of buzzing, howling, pummelling black metal. Think Burzum, Darkthrone, Immortal, but with all sorts of weird twists and sonic surprises. Sure, Leviathan is grimmer than grim metal that the frost and forest lords of Norway should bow down to, but it's also pure expression unfettered by genre restraints, although informed and inspired by them. Unique and category-defying black metal... dark, weird, noisy, disturbing art embodying one man's twisted vision. Original, evil, hateful, misanthropic, bizarre and truly black metal. "Verräter", the first official Leviathan release, contains tracks dating back to 1998 with the first disc representing more recently recorded tracks, while disc two contains the older, rawer material. "Verräter" is beyond just black metal, it's a collection of utterly brutal, truly innovative, and completely soul crushing musical blackness.
STRIBORG - 'Perceiving The World With Hate' CD (Displeased Records)
Brand new 2009 album from this Tasmanian Black Forest Metal / Black Ambient legend. Deathly slow, depressive Black Metal with a wondrous touch of the eerie and gloomy. "Perceiving The World With Hate" has a strong emphasis on the melancholic and atmospheric side of BM, with moments of blackened Doom. "... strikes my ears as stealthy move into a woods overrun by ghosts... it is one thing for Sin Nanna to play the character of a lone gunner in the dark wilderness. But it is another thing to play sounds that portray wasted souls as strewn about that same landscape" (Brutalism). Features Malefici of Xasthur on 3 tracks. File next to Burzum. Packaged in a DVD case.
