ANDREW LILES - 'In My Father's House Are Many Mansions' CD (Fourth Dimension)
Various artists remixing, re-ordering, adding and subtracting the recordings of Andrew Liles: Aaron Moore, Aranos, Band Of Pain, Bass Communion, Colin Potter, Darren Tate, Freiband, Irr. App (Ext), Jonathan Coleclough, Nurse With Wound, Paul Bradley, Ruse, The Hafler Trio, Unsong and Vidna Obmana. "It is interesting to note that as much as these tracks are made by individual artists with individual styles, this CD still sounds as a coherent project, which makes for enjoyable listening and is probably why this is released under the name Andrew Liles. Another intriguing and highly enjoyable addition to the already impressive Liles-catalogue" (Vital Weekly).

BLACK TO COMM - 'Black To Comm' 10" (Dekorder)
Debut release by this new computer music artist from Hamburg, Germany. An exciting mixture of dark, slowly evolving drones, beautifully distorted melodies which have been compared to early Fennesz, Pimmon and the like, obscure hard rock sampling meets raw data manipulation sounding like Earth jamming with Merzbow, digital noise and computer improvisations. A beautiful and disturbing record! Clear Vinyl. Ltd x 250. Dekorder label is also known for releasing The Hafler Trio, John Hegre etc.
COLIN POTTER & THE HAFLER TRIO - 'A Pressed On Sandwich' CD (Nextera)
In 2003, shortly after attending The Hafler Trio performance in Preston called 'How To Slice A Loaf Of Bread', Colin Potter suggested that the two should work together. With McKenzie being in Iceland and Potter being in Preston, a tête-à-tête was not easy. Andrew McKenzie mailed Potter the original source material for the concert, which he happily reworked into 'A Pressed On Sandwich', creating a dark, detailed soundworld that shows off both musicians' approach to drone atmospherics. The CD is packed in special paper wallet with silver print, and is released in an edition of 1010 copies, with the usual exceptional artwork from McKenzie. A solid addition to both The Hafler Trio and Colin Potter discographies.

HOOR-PAAR-KRAAT - 'The Eureka Tapes: The Complete Recordings' 2 x CD (Small Doses / Basses Frequences)
The pieces that make up "The Eureka Tapes" were all created while Hoor-paar-Kraat’s Anthony Mangicapra was living in the town of Eureka, California. Indeed, the town’s name is apt as they represent a “Eurekamoment” for Hoor-paar-Kraat as a musical entity; a figurative spilling of the bath waters as Hoor-paar-Kraat found their sound. The hints of alchemical transcendence that peeped through the cracks of previous releases come brazenly into view throughout. Music dissolves into explorations of texture, acoustic phenomena and the psyche. Originally issued as three separate volumes in a variety of hard to find formats, "The Eureka Tapes" collects the three original volumes, plus Hoor-paar-Kraat’s side of their split cassette with Last and a previously unreleased recording from the same sessions. Hoor-paar-Kraat’s music finds itself travelling the same surreal by-ways as Nurse With Wound, irr. app. (ext.), The Hafler Trio and Coil’s more ritualistic output.
PSYCHOPHYSICIST - 'Psychophysicists' CD (Side Effects)
Psychophysicist is the fruit of an ambitious collaboration between Adi Newton (Clock DVA, TAGC) and Andrew McKenzie (The Hafler Trio), two giants in the field of electronic music. Psychophysics was developed by Gustave Fechner, who believed that science and technology had made man materialistic and indifferent to spiritual matters. The recordings on this CD are aimed to stimulate and aid the expansion of consciousness and relaxation of physiological tensions. Our aim was to create a recording which could be used for these purposes. This is the true aim of psychophysics, the attainment of body and spirit. Edited by Adi Newton and dark ambient legend Brian Lustmord.

X marks the spot!" Originally released by Staalplaat as a cassette in 1986 then as a CD in 1990. THE HAFLER TRIO - 'How To Reform Mankind' CD (Korm Plastics)
The fourth in the Hafler Trio reissue series. "The early Hafler Trio albums revelled in the miscommunication, the recycling of information within new contexts, and a disorientation caused by the play between what is real and what might be real... Subtle flutterings of shortwave data have been processed into rarified air; low volume, resonant frequencies colliding with the body for a chest-cavity massage; the clunky piano from McKenzie's Negentropy album returns as a post-serialist leitmotif; and desolate sonar plinks slam against metal walls to astounding effect" [Aquarius]. Originally released in 1992 by Touch, now finally seen as should be, including a 24-page booklet, poster and postcard.

THE HAFLER TRIO - 'No More Twain, Of Flesh: 11 Unequivocal Obsecrations' CD (Nextera)
Third part of the trilogy - the first being "Cleave: 9 Great Openings" (Nextera, 2003) and the second being "No Man Put Asunder: 7 Fruitful And Seamless Unions" (Die Stadt, 2003). Again, this is a 60+ minutes long piece which slowly changes, with a very wide and resonant sound, but for sure is the most surprising and experimental work of all three parts! Ltd x 1022 copies in an absolutely unique, super deluxe, luxury packaging! Embossed gatefold Paper-Wallet with special Transparent Wraparound and silver print.

THE HAFLER TRIO - 'Seven Hours Sleep' CD (Korm Plastics)
The sixth in the Hafler Trio reissue series. Allegedly based on dream research, this is non-academic electroacoustic / musique concrete at it's finest. Chris Watson and Edward Moolenbeek were still part of the group - Watson bringing a strong interest in field recordings to the studio and Moolenbeek signalling an overt dealing with perceptual issues. The album's progression from the early disorientation to the closing drones succeeds in putting the listener in another state, making this one of the Hafler Trio's more effective collections. Originally released on LP by Laylah (1985) and reissued "wrongly" on CD by Mute (1996). "Now really available as should have been." Heavy package with booklet and mini-poster.

THE HAFLER TRIO - 'Who Gave You The Ability To Envisage Perfection?' 7" (Plinkity Plonk)
"When we make a room ready, it's not a given that the appointment will be kept. Furthermore, what used to happen in the old days, and will now start to happen again, is that random visitors will appear. It's only natural after all. So when this particular slice of tangerine was severed from the tree, it had purposes that were commensurate with that particular time: but now we gaze on the visage of something bigger than had at first been anticipated. Revel in the ending that gave way to a beginning, although the path is not yet clear. There are no methods used here — but there are more things to tell when the bus reaches the terminus. As it will on completion of this piece of homework" [H30]. Clear vinyl packaged in a heavy silver-printed transparent vellum sleeve. Limited to 333 copies.
