ANDREW LILES - 'In My Father's House Are Many Mansions' CD (Fourth Dimension)
Various artists remixing, re-ordering, adding and subtracting the recordings of Andrew Liles: Aaron Moore, Aranos, Band Of Pain, Bass Communion, Colin Potter, Darren Tate, Freiband, Irr. App (Ext), Jonathan Coleclough, Nurse With Wound, Paul Bradley, Ruse, The Hafler Trio, Unsong and Vidna Obmana. "It is interesting to note that as much as these tracks are made by individual artists with individual styles, this CD still sounds as a coherent project, which makes for enjoyable listening and is probably why this is released under the name Andrew Liles. Another intriguing and highly enjoyable addition to the already impressive Liles-catalogue" (Vital Weekly).

FREIBAND - 'Replicas' CD (Monochrome Vision)
Highly conceptual project that combines features of remix, recycling and plagiarism - the re-interpretation of classic album by Asmus Tietchens “Daseinsverfehlung”. All that can be heard on this CD, as always in case of Frans de Waard framework, is made from music that already existed: every sound, word in titles and even the cover picture - all is just processing and manipulation techniques. Ltd x 500.
What Freiband proposes here is 2 sides of radically reworked gamelan. Side A seems to progress through an acid bath and take the magnifying glass to enhance the digital decays, evoking various stages of textural corrosion. Through these aggressive and irreverent treatments, the naturally metallic harmonics are by twist and turns abruptly dismantled and fractured into crunchy, dense and fuzzy fireworks. On side B, through some arcane wiring, some machines end up spitting out shifting binary patterns with a somewhat alienating feeling. Dry and uncompromising “Unerforschtes Gebiet” between minimal beats and Steve Reich’s early tape compositions. File alongside Hecker, Pita, Mika Vaino, Fennesz or Alva Noto's Xerrox LPs. Features 2 locked grooves. Ltd x 250 numbered copies.
FREIBAND / BASS COMMUNION - 'Headwind / Tailwind' 3" CD (My Own Little Label)
Last year My Own Little Label released 'Haze Shrapnel', a new piece by Bass Communion and a remix of that by Freiband as a 3" disc. Already back then it was agreed that there should also be a release by Freiband with a remix by Bass Communion. Due to the immense success of that 3", the new one is now released as a factory pressed 3" CD. For 'Headwind' Freiband returns to the guitar playing by Martin Luiten (Pick-up) and produces a spacious computerized remix of his elaborate playing. Bass Communion takes matters further up the line in a likewise sizzling remix. Mini j-card sleeve in PVC sleeve.
After a decade, this record is Shifts’ probable farewell. Initiated by Frans de Waard (Kapotte Muziek, Freiband, Goem etc and label boss of Korm Plastics) for a ‘soft guitar’ record on Fourth Dimension label in 1995, the project has evolved to include many releases, all distinguished by their singular instrumentation (including two deviations from the guitar - Sonates and Interlude uses the piano, while One Piece for Cymbal has a single cymbal). 'Trees / Leaves' was made with a four-string Spanish guitar de Waard bought for 1 Euro on Koninginnedag (Dutch Queen’s Day) in 2004. Ltd x 200 copies in a heat-sealed sleeve.

VA - 'Epitaph For John' CD (Korm Plastics)
Compilation with Asmus Tietchens, RLW (Ralf Wehowsky), Merzbow, Freiband (Frans De Waard) and John Watermann. "On April 2nd 2002 John Watermann died suddenly of an infection resulting from his ongoing treatment for cancer. Having in the final year of his life returned to artistic pursuits, he still had vast plans for future projects. Among these unfulfilled projects were plans to collaborate with Frans de Waard on a new release. Although only preliminary discussions on the collaboration took place and Watermann never completed any work towards the project, Watermann's source material that was to be the basis of the work now serves as a basis for this tribute release. This release serves as a record of Watermann and his influence, documenting the respect he reserved from his peers and, hopefully, introducing his work to a new audience." [Frans De Waard] Outsized sleeve with inserts.
