FRANCISCO LOPEZ & NOVI_SAD - 'Titans' CD (Gradual Hate Records)
Sound artists Francisco López (Spain) and Novi_sad (Greece) have together explored the blurred territory between reality and the creation of self-contained sound environments through a long process of transformation of sonic materials. Working with the same shared field recordings carried out in the region of Ancient Olympia in Greece (and presented in the context of a live performance during the International Olympia Festival on June 30th 2010), they have created two individual pieces with extreme dynamics, at times obscure and dense, but laden with hidden complexity and a few surprised for the most adventurous listeners. FRANCISCO LOPEZ & RICHARD FRANCIS - 'BromBron 14: In De Blaauwe Hand' CD (Korm Plastics)
Francisco López (Spain) and Richard Francis (New Zealand) have created "in de blaauwe hand" upon invitation from Extrapool for a brief working residency in Nijmegen, to develop a collaboration piece for the Brombron CD series. Working with very small seed source sound samples that were exchanged between them, two intermingling compositional paths unfolded in two parallel small studios. In a short (but very intense) period of time a whole world of very delicate and subtle materials arose. The hour-long track merges without mix a dreamy geography of subtleties and complex organicities that is more the result of aesthetic affinities than pre-structured plan. In that sense, this is a composition born from the sound themselves, following the paths indicated by them. Presented in a card-slip-sleeve.
Two years of hard work have been employed using sounds and processed field recordings. It’s a unequalled conceptual soundscape in this artist’s huge discography and it perfectly joins to Glacial Movements aesthetics. After a few seconds from the track beginning we are dip into an arctic trip which lasts more than an hour and in which tangled weavings in a masterly fashion handled by the Spanish artist appear, develop and dissolve. Gusts of arctic wind, the Amarok’s wheezing breath (Amarok is the name of a gigantic wolf in Inuit mythology) and the sense of loss in the polar night are only some of the sensations that this cryogenic hallucinatory acoustic is able to evoke. Digipak.
FRANCISCO LOPEZ - 'Untitled #205' 10" (Auf Abwegen)
Based exclusively on end grooves from vintage records, ‘Untitled #205’ is a straightforward and joyful exploration of the potential for reincarnation of these unintended sonic structures into new life. More a tool than a final product, it delves into static, noise and rhythm with a hopeful perspective.” The 'Untitled #205 (Mix)' on the A-side brings us 18 minutes of hissy, textural sound in dissolution, ranging from rhythm to noise. The B-side has the 20 original loops López constructed out of old vintage 78s. Ltd x 300 copies on clear vinyl in a white sleeve.

FRANCISCO LOPEZ - 'Wind (Patagonia)' CD (and/OAR)
An immersion into sonic matter from micro and macro environments dominated by the wind in Patagonia. A vast barren space shaped and inhabited by the ever-changing forces of plants, rocks, sand, snow and ice. An irregular environment of relentless strength and richness. And above all, a tour de force of profound listening. López’s Patagonian winds have a ferocious beauty and immensity. Delicate whispers combine with wild swarms and eddies underpinned by deep bass punches. All of this is produced by an invisible force that endlessly sweeps the surface of the globe. With this, we are no longer in the tidy world of human music, but have entered the sublime domain of natural sound. Packaged in a super gloss digipak with 16 page booklet.

MATT SHOEMAKER - 'Tropical Amnesia One' CD (Ferns Recordings)
"More field recordings here, this time around taken from the Amazonas, Brazil, to precise the Mamori Lake. Shoemaker taped the sounds there and treats the whole thing into one piece of music that lasts 64 minutes. If I was to imagine how the Amazonian rainforest would sound like, I think it would sound like this. A fairly thick mass of busy buzzing insect sounds, birds and wind like sounds. Shoemaker opts for a dramatic approach in this work: things start out relatively quiet and moody, but over the course of those 60 some minutes grows with some violent intention. Shoemaker uses strong equalisation, adding low end sounds to the piece, that makes the earth tremble among the heavy weight of this piece. Yet he never loses the clarity of the sounds, birds and insects are always to be recognised here. An excellent piece along the lines of the best of Francisco Lopez (who organises the annual Mamori Sound Project. Shoemaker delivers a great work, perhaps his best so far" (Vital Weekly). Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel sleeve held in place with a metal clip.

For fans of Bernhard Gunter, Francisco Lopez or Marc Behrens. Ltd x 500 copies in a digipak, with artwork by Akifumi Nakajima (Aube).
