Philippe Petit is interested in soundtracks, even if he creates original music he'd rather be introduced as a "musical travel agent" than a composer. James Johnston is the singer, multi-instrumentalist, and founding member of influential UK band Gallon Drunk. He also plays with Krautrock legends Faust and was a member of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds from 2003-2008, (originally touring with the band in 1994). RAKHIM - 'Crimson Umbrella' CD (20 Buck Spin)
"What if Z’EV had written the intro to Darkthrone’s “Blaze In The Northern Sky?". With that question in mind Finland’s Rakhim unearth "Crimson Umbrella"; a two-track fit of kraut-noise psychosis, schizophrenic percussive clatter and layers of effects and over-processed vocal chants and screams. The nightmarish deconstruction of the 2 lengthy tracks bare only trace elements of main members Krypt and Rudimentor’s day jobs in Circle and Pharaoh Overlord, with Rakhim indulging in sonic terror too far gone for the aforementioned bands. Although the album’s title makes reference to L.A.’s great Jesters Of Destiny, Rakhim would more aptly call to mind Wolf Eyes filtered through a lengthy Faust tape jam. Best experienced through headphones at appropriately ear-bleeding volume. Silver on black digifile.
RBE - 'Raudive Bunker Experiment' 2 x LP + 7" + CD Boxset (Youdonthavetocallitmusic)
Reissue of the rare LP from 1982, plus additional material from various tapes of that period. Includes two long Industrial tracks in the way of Throbbing Gristle and 22 tracks of experimental minimal synth music, comparable to Cabaret Voltaire and Conrad Schnitzler. The 7" includes two tracks with vocals in best minimal synth style. All composed and recorded in the early 80s by Andy Wilson, who also played with Bourbonese Qualk, released a book about German band Faust and nowadays plays under the names Sunseastar and The Grand Erector. Comes in gatefold cover with special finish print and stamped inner sleeves. Limited and numbered edition of 250 copies in a boxset with silkscreened cover, including the 7", an additional CD of bonus material, two booklets (one with original artwork, the other one including an interview and the complete discograhy), postcards and buttons.
