Recorded live during a short Russian tour in September 2009, these recordings are unique since the lineup was made of Russian artists and only Roger himself was a part of the common European live incarnation of BDN. The persons behind Anthesteria and LamiaVox joined him in Moscow, while the guys from Bardoseneticube and 414 were together with him on stage in St.Petersburg. The basic parts of the tracks were sent to them all in advance, so they prepared their own vision of this material, thus it was a pure conceived and well-organized collaboration. Both shows were recorded on multi-channel devices, then carefully mixed and mastered, so the final quality is close to the studio sound without losing any of the raw energy of live performance. The result is a very fresh and unexpected look on the well-known BDN compositions such as 'Innerwar', 'Pay Day' and 'Testing' which should be interesting not only for devoted followers of the project but for the wider audience of power electronics / death industrial fans. Russia has had an incredibly interesting and mostly uncredited underground electronic scene for some time. One of its flag bearers has been Ivan Pavlov (CoH). He has collaborated with Throbbing Gristle members Cosey Fanny Tutti and Peter Christopherson (as Soi Song). The LP is culled from 1996 recordings which were made with DAO (Andrej Dao Kolesov). DAO + CoH uses bass, guitars and custom ZX Spectrum and the results are pretty damn awesome. There is a distinct 90‘s flavour and yet it retains a freshness. ‘Propharadeia’ is a really driving track that makes me shake my body from finger to toe. ‘Oka’ is dark and sinister coming through like an Autechre / Muslimgauze hybrid, seething with eastern paranoia. ‘Sung In Sand' continues the eastern flavour with its building intricate yet subtle percussion and swooping synths. Duality is at once sacred and playful. It is both dark and light, organic and refined, masculine and feminine. Dead Can Dance's Lisa Gerrard partners with Pieter Bourke, formerly of Aussie band Eden, to create this compositional dance of partnership that is classical, ancient, and thoroughly modern. PETER PAELINCK & ELDBJORG RAKNES - 'The Igloo Recordings' CD (None)
Peter Paelinck travelled for many years in the old lost valleys of the Himalayas and Tibet where he learned the secrets of the Bön. The dark side of the Igloo Recordings was inspired by these memories. In 2008 Peter made new recordings in Norway where snow and ice were the only material used to build instruments to create sound (iseridoo, isbone, isgong, isbell and istube). Eldbjorg Raknes joined him in making these recordings at the Geilo Ice Festival. In isolation on a mountain top in a specially built igloo, they created new ritual music, recorded by Tor Magne Hallibakken. The results were mastered in Iceland by Finnur Hakonarsson (Johan Johansson, Mùm etc), creating 9 primitive songs with a high listening quality. Peter Paelinck and his sister Niki Mono were 2 of the 5 Arian Aquarians on the cult record label LAYLAH and he has previously worked with Hilmar Orn Hilmarsson and David Tibet. The fourteenth installment in this series is a mini CD by Peter Rehberg (Pita / KTL). For his rework, Rehberg used the recordings of the very first Kapotte Muziek workshop (and concert) held in september 1997, as part of Staalplaat's 'Masterclass' event at the Korzo Theatre, in Den Haag. Moving away from digital computer noise for this work, Rehberg crafted a beautifully soft but outspoken piece of music. Low rumbles at micro levels and moments of silence are interspersed with isolated throbs and shimmering mid-frequency drones. A total playing time of 17:30.

Formed by aggression and pain the aptly titled 'Pain Implantation' is probably a good description of the music, given the focus of the approach. Sparse and suffocating atmospheres float forth while distorted sicken tones are injected. After attending a Kapotte Muziek concert in Easthampton, USA, Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth) was asked by KM (Frans De Waard, Roel Meelkop and Peter Duimelinks) to expand on the idea of that concert. For the 12th part in the series "Kapotte Muziek by..." Moore carried this out in a totally free setting of piano, guitar and small objects, creating the concerts by removing the concert and replacing it by his own playing, where the original recording serves as a score.

VELEHENTOR - 'Dyatlov Pass' 3 x CD (Infinite Fog Productions)
Originally released in 2003 by Fight Muzik. This reissued album is available for the first time in the full 3CD version. A true monument and a masterpiece of ritual-shamanic drone ambient music. The album is devoted to the mysterious death of nine professional hikers on the Holat-Sjahl slope (Mansi for "Mountain of dead") on 1st February 1959. Investigations into the deaths suggest that the hikers tore open their tent from within, departing barefoot in heavy snow; while the corpses show no signs of struggle, two victims had fractured skulls, two had broken ribs, and one was missing her tongue. According to sources, the victims' clothing contained high levels of radiation, but no one from group worked with radioactive objects. Soviet investigators determined only that "a compelling unknown force" had caused the deaths. Velehentor will take you on a sonic journey through the infinite, dangerous and remote Snow-covered Northern Ural Mountains. The 2nd disc is a collaboration with Ad Lux Tenebrae. Vortex is a German project from Marcus Stigleger (Golgatha, Aeterna), challenging the boundaries of ritual and dark ambient music. What we have here are three tracks of old-style power electronics, reminds me particularly of Sutcliffe Jugend's "When Pornography Is No Longer Enough" album. Very minimal in places, with periods of lull interspersed with piercing explosions, static bursts, and constant weird, heavily processed vocals. Lyrics are very stream-of-consciousness stuff, and the delivery is bang-on, incredibly jarring stuff. Completely at odds with a lot of PE acts around today who tend to go for the muscular beefed-up US-style approach, this is very much more in the old Come Org vein, aesthetically in the musical delivery. And so the journey formally ends for Wolfskin, 15 years from whence it began with the release of "The Hidden Fortress" cassette back in 1995. As he did with "The Hidden Fortress: A Revisitation" CD, Wolfskin once again pairs up with Anders Peterson of Objekt4 fame, now operating under the name of Last Industrial Estate for the purposes of this recording. This is Wolfskin at its bleakest and most restrained, offering 5 tracks of enveloping ambience built around foggy, ambiguous textures and an endless flow of drifting isolationism, shapeless horrors, and oppressive subterranean heaviness.
