The UK's Dieter Muh (Dave Uden alone this time) manipulates Finland's MNEM. "Solid collaborative effort between these known, but still some what obscure groups, delivering 8 tracks of dark, abstract atmospheres, with an array of layered, slightly organic sounds and processed manipulations; unknown insectile noises (of a larger variety I might add), sub-aquatic, droney washes, and deep rhythmic pulsations, with a dash of industrial clutter thrown in. Quite active and constantly in motion, allowing this to work very well as background music, or with headphones to pick up the multiple nuances and ultra-hypnotic qualities. With every release from Adelaide's David Tonkin he seems that little bit more aggressive, that touch more buried in sound, and that step more progressed in his abilities. The accompanying CD contains tracks from Hum Of The Druid (2 tracks), The Haters, Dieter Müh, Kazumoto Endo, Raionbashi, Halthan and Golden Serenades - plus extensive interviews with all of these artists, and a profile for the Posh Isolation label. Around 220 reviews. Perfect bound A5 B&W magazine (more like a softback book!) with 136 pages. Ltd x 500 copies, Australian import. An impressive collection, a very enjoyable read and a highly recommended addition to any noise collection!!
