Bocksholm BOCKSHOLM - 'The Sound Of Black Cloggs' CD (Tesco USA)

Recorded at the God Blast America! festival in New York, September 2002, "The Sound of Black Cloggs" captures the first live performance of Bocksholm, the industrial collaboration between Peter Andersson (Raison D'etre) and Lina Baby Doll (Deutsch Nepal).   Genghis Tron / VinylLP GENGHIS TRON - 'Board Up The House Remixes Vol. 5' 12" (Crucial Blast)

If Genghis Tron's frayed and sparking mix of aggressive mathcore and electronics wasn't innovative enough, they've embarked on an ambitious multi-label remix project following their first album, "Board Up The House". The three tracks on the fifth and final edition comes wrapped in layers of distortion at once atmospheric and damaging. Tim Hecker's take on the title track is a slow thaw of icy electronic texture, and the Nadja remix of "I Won't Come Back Alive" stretches it out to fifteen minutes of buried drum hits and chilly synths. The final track is a distorted electro remix of "I Won't Come Back Alive" by Dudes You Can Trust. Ltd x 1000 copies on magenta / mint green marbled vinyl.

Knurl / VinylLP KNURL - 'Reactance' LP (Wintage Records & Tapes)

After nearly two decades of creating car crash reality and damaged ear bleed sound, Canada’s king of scrap-metal harshness, Knurl, releases his first ever LP. Delivering a furnace blast of searing frequencies, Knurl utilises his trademark saw-blades, chains and metal files to full effect leaving nothing but a husk of melted electronics and a pile of smouldering wires. Knurl brings out the barb-wire violin creating scorching drones baked under a hot desert sun, eventually left to melt and congeal with tortured electronics forming in to one nasty pool of mercury and chaos. Steel on steel, metal on metal, rust on rust. White jackets with front and back screen-printing. Knurl, “Reactance”. Ltd x 300 numbered copies with insert.

Mastery MASTERY - 'Barbaric Usurpation Of the Hypereonic Black Metal Throne' 2 x CD (Tumult)

Mastery is Domignostika's long running project, which, over the last six years. released 5 extremely limited CDR demos, all of which are collected here, remastered, and widely available outside of the Bay Area for the very first time. Starting with creeped out ambient, Mastery launches into frenzied freak out black buzz... sinister beastly croaking vocals, furious blast drums, rapidfire multiple guitars... a demented slab of black metal weirdness. Mastery is total berzerker black metal, rooted in the tradition of true grim blackness... a droned out and damaged, outsider blackness, that sounds pretty much unlike almost any other black metal. Latter tracks end the double disc release with crumbling, blackened doom/drone drenched black metal.

Merzbow MERZBOW - 'Another Merzbow Records' 3 x CD Set (Dirter)

Possibly the most essential Merzbow release for many years.  This 3CD set is culled from appearances on various compilations, ranging from the most obscure cassette releases, to long out of print gems on labels such as Blast First and Susan Lawly.  This material spans an entire decade from 1991 to 2001 and as such, tells its own story of the development and sonic chicanery that is the Merzbow sound during this time. The three CDs in full colour sleeves are packed inside a beautiful bronze printed slip case and the set is limited to 1000 copies.

Monarch MONARCH! - 'Mer Morte' CD (Crucial Blast)

First appearing as a limited edition LP on the Spanish label Throne Records in 2008, "Mer Morte" is now made available on CD as an unbroken thirty-four minute sludge-and-feedback feast that sprawls out further into the dismal black void that these French doom junkies have been lurking in for the past six years. As with previous releases, Monarch move through massive blackened tarpits of low-end riffage and sheets of gluey feedback that are stretched out into monolithic slabs of sound, a grim, glacial ultra-doom that crawls at a saurian sub-tempo. Vocalist Emilie sounds as gaunt and ghostly as ever, her vocalizations materializing across the spatial doomscape as distant ululating wails, breathy whispers, and putrid death shrieks. Digisleeve.

Nadja NADJA - 'Desire In Uneasiness' CD (Crucial Blast)

"Desire In Uneasiness" is an album of all new material from acclaimed Canadian dreamsludge weavers Nadja. Five colossal jams of eternally-fuzzy, ethereal dirge that are powered by the interlocking bass guitars of Leah Buckareff and Aidan Baker, who set loose a wave of monstrous grinding bass riffs amidst a fog of beautiful, swirling electronic effects. "Desire..." also marks the first Nadja album to feature a live drummer in place of the drum machine programming that has driven the band's previous recordings, and the difference in the band's sound is apparent from the first crushing beats of album opener 'Disambiguation'. Hardback digifile.

Panasonic / Keiji Haino / VinylLP PAN SONIC & KEIJI HAINO - 'In The Studio' 2 x LP (Blast First Petite)

Recorded only days after their performance together in Berlin that resulted in the powerful and haunting live album "Shall I Download A Black Hole And Offer It To You?". "In The Studio" is a more controlled, even tense, affair, where the participants circle each of like gladiators at the Colosseum. No more need be said I think than is contained within the fabulous track titles as offered forth by the mysterious Mr H. Presented in a stunning gatefold sleeve with artwork by Stephen O'Malley (Sunn O))), Æthenor etc).

Scott Hull SCOTT HULL - 'Audiofilm 1' 3" CD (Crucial Blast)

Scott Hull (Pig Destroyer, Agoraphobic Nosebleed) has been gradually revealing another side of his musical persona over the past few years; an obsession with cinematic soundscaping and dark evocative film scores, mutant electronic textures and pitch-black isolationism. This first part of the Audiofilm Series is a terrifying fug of demonic drone that utilises stereo panning and slabs of obsidian ambience, slowly unfolding over the length of the piece to reveal layers of malevolent black drone and unsettling voices, seemingly lost between planes of shadow. Recommended for fans of Lustmord and Scorn. Ltd x 1000 copies in a mini gatefold sleeve with artwork from Seldon Hunt.

The Bastard Noise / The Endless Blockage / MITB THE BASTARD NOISE / THE ENDLESS BLOCKADE - 'The Red List' CD (20 Buck Spin)

A split album between two titans of the North American underground! “The Red List” marks a huge turning point for US noise legends Bastard Noise. The harsh noise and power electronics they are well known and revered for here is mixed into a foundation of brutal modern hardcore with progressive tendencies, recalling their seminal past ties with Man Is The Bastard. The Endless Blockade's contribute a 14+ minute modern power-violence epic, alongside two remix tracks from the "Primitive" sessions; the first remix by Noah Creshevsky, the second a brutal harsh noise blast by Canadian audial assaulter The Rita. A sick offering!

Theologian THEOLOGIAN - 'The Further I Get From Your Star, The Less Light I Feel On My Face' CD (Crucial Blast)

Theologian is the new incarnation of New Yorker Leech (Navicon Torture Technologies). "The Further I Get From Your Star..." is an abyssal blast of nebulous black electronics and subterranean death-synth, picking up where he left off with his long-running project Navicon Torture Technologies. Theologian delivers it's first full-length album, a seven-track descent into roaring, cosmic drone and howling black hole electronics, colossal industrial soundscapes and grim low-end heaviness. Like NTT, Theologian combines several different disciplines of industrial into a signature sound, a doom-laden hybrid of death industrial and power electronics and black ambience that's spliced with a constant melodic presence; the music is harsh, often hellish, but accentuated by an icy, desolate beauty that gives "The Further I Get From Your Star..." it’s abyssal vibe. Six panel A5 digipak designed by Leech.

Whourkr WHOURKR - 'Concrete' CD (Crucial Blast)

The 2nd album from French deathtronix duo Whourkr is a whirlwind of electronically processed and treated avant-death/grind that is as violent and brutal as it is complex and obsessively constructed, relying as much on samplers and software as it does on bonecrushing riffs, screaming and hyperspeed blastbeats. Following a similar strategy as James Plotkin's post-production grind experiments on the first Phantomsmasher album, all of the guitars, drums, and vocals are arranged and recorded by Whourkr and then run through a gauntlet of hardcore editing and remixing. Total chaos deathgrind filtered through a futuristic cuisinart of ultra-aggressive electronica, like a freaked-out epileptic mashup of Atari Teenage Riot, Dying Fetus, Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Venetian Snares, Blut Aus Nord, and John Zorn. Akin to Drumcorps, Bong-Ra, Dataclast, Noism, Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Reptiljan, Mulk and DHR. Digipak.

Wold WOLD - 'Badb' CD (Crucial Blast)

Originally released on cassette in 2004 in a limited edition of 100 copies, "Badb" is one of the earliest releases from the Saskatchewan-based black metal / noise duo Wold. The nine tracks featured here revolve around the mythology of the war goddess, the spectre of doom that lurks at the edge of the battlefield. It begins at the heart of a roiling black blizzard and proceeds through a charred nightmare soundscape of icy corroded black metal riffs, fractured blasting, melancholic melodies blurred and smeared into malevolent new shapes, and scathing distorted witch-screams ripping through the blackness, all doused and drowned in Merzbowian levels of feedback and distortion abuse. Now presented on CD for the first time, this early swarm of Wold's psychotropic black metal / noise terror comes with all-new artwork from Pippi Zornoza. A stunning blast of black noise metal, highly recommended to devotees of extreme distorted evil. Digipak.
