One of several side-projects to emerge from the Wolvserpent camp, Aelter is the solo effort of Wolvserpent guitarist Blake Green. Aelter explores a similar realm of dark majestic sound to Wolvserpent, with massive downtuned guitar roar and bleak minor key melodies being the common thread between the two projects. But where Wolvserpent blends this chugging Melvins-esque heaviness and haunting slowcore arpeggios with violins, pounding drums, and a propensity for extended hypno-dirges, Aelter dispenses with the drums almost completely and goes for a more cinematic approach using layered keyboards and gorgeous harmonised voices, fused to a malevolent black heaviness. Due to huge demand, Loki re-released the legendary "Burning Flesh" CD. The limited edition (500 copies) digipak version from 2000 collected the original 1993 tapes with added bonus material. This new version was sympathetically remastered at Secretlab in June 2007 and has new artwork. The soundscape of "Burning Flesh" is a pitch-black ambience in which peculiar sounds scramble about, igniting a rising wave of gloom, driven by the slow clatter of tribal hooves upon unearthly terrain. Highly recommended to all fans of Inade's unearthly Dark Ambient sound.
K11 is Pietro Riparbelli. The sound sources for this album were recorded at the enchanting park of Monsters of Bomarzo. The park of Monsters of Bomarzo was devised by the architect Pirro Ligorio (he completed the Cathedral of Saint Peter in Rome after the death of Michelangelo and built Villa d'Este in Tivoli) on commission of Prince Pier Francesco Orsini, called Vicino, only to vent the heart broken at the death of is wife Giulia Farnese. The park was created in 1552 as "Villa of Wonders" to be the only one of it's kind in the world. Incredible but true, the Park of Monsters remained in complete oblivion till 1954 and only few people was aware about all the fantastic treasures contained within the park for over 400 years ! K11 recorded the soul of this park of Monsters and Wonders and after re-working the sounds he delivers us a trip between reality and dream. Psychedelic, ritual ambient music from an other space, from an other era, from an other land.

It seems as though 'Willow's Song' (from "The Wicker Man" soundtrack) has made an impact on everyone who's heard it. All these years on, it still has a sense of the uncanny about it. The title song appears here in its original instrumental version, as performed by the band Magnet, and the remainder of this album is a selection of vintage recordings and traditional Folk songs that inspired the music featured on the film's soundtrack. It's worth remembering that while the music of "The Wicker Man" is often credited with having heavily influenced the various psychedelic folk revivals that have taken place since the '70s, those songs were written by New Yorker Paul Giovanni, and are far from the authentic Pagan tracts they've so often passed for. This Finders Keepers album goes some way toward reconnecting the film with the traditional material that inspired its legendary score, and includes children's rhymes like 'Baa Baa Black Sheep' and 'Oranges and Lemons' sung with dulcimer accompaniment. You'll also notice appearances of medieval composition 'Miri It Is' and a 1960 recording of Child Ballad 'Willy O' Winsbury', both of which were modified and adapted for the soundtrack recordings.
