Beequeen BEEQUEEN - 'Gund' CD (Plinkity Plonk / Korm Plastics)

Two recordings from two vinyl projects. The first four pieces on the CD were recorded early 1998 for a 12" vinyl single on which these tracks were supposed to be cut at different speeds (16, 33, 45 and 78 RPM). Due to its complexity of pressing this record was never realised. The fifth and sixth track were originally intended to form a 10" album of a most unlikely meeting by Beequeen and MSBR. Based upon a mutual sound exchange, both Beequeen and MSBR worked independently on their pieces. The label that intended to release this, stopped while both bands were still recording. Beequeen finished their piece in 1998 and MSBR decided to do a new piece in 2001. Ltd x 500 copies in a gatefold sleeve.

Beequeen BEEQUEEN - 'Ownliness' CD (Infraction)

Reissue of this 2002 title with slightly different artwork. "Ownliness" offers trip-hop rhythms, guitar-ambient, beautiful road movie-music, strange samples and loops deliver with a twist only the Beequeens can master. From the opener "Clockwise" to the long melancholic piece "Beam Ends" (featuring a ticking clock, atmospherically guitar work, environmental recordings and cellos) this new CD offers one of Beequeen's most musical products. It will certainly appeal to Beequeen fans old and new, offering an album full of beautiful tracks. "Ownliness" proves Beequeen more alive than ever, willing to take on new challenges in their music.

Beequeen BEEQUEEN - 'Sandancing' CD (Important Records)

More song based and mature than their last album for Important ('The Bodyshop'), this album features vocals by Olga Wallis. With some well rounded pop songs in some places, Beequeen never forget to put in some strange elements, without leaping in the dark alley of a pointless experiment. Orchestral in 'The Illogical Song', collage like in 'The Edie Three Step' or a simple rhythm-machine in 'The Honeythief', Beequeen does all, and with great care and seeming ease. This album features also the help of Barry Gray (The Legendary Pink Dots), with production by Erik Drost. Presented in an outsized digifile.

Beequeen BEEQUEEN - 'Sugarbush' CD (Raum 312)

The legendary third full length CD by Beequeen from 1995, produced by Mark Poysden, breaking away from the older ambient industrial sound and a much richer sound tapestry. Widely acclaimed as a highlight in the Beequeen back catalogue. Features covers of titles like 'Return To Sender' (Elvis Presley) and 'A Beautiful Noise' (Neil Diamond) set to completely different music. As "Sugarbush" featured a lot of processed guitar sounds, Beequeen refer to this as their 'guitar-album'. Dedicated to Joseph Beuys. Ltd x 1000. RARE WAREHOUSE FIND - ACT FAST!

Beequeen BEEQUEEN - 'Time Waits For No One' CD (Herbal International)

Reissue of this 1994 CD from Beequeen, (Staalplaat, Ltd 1000). "Frans de Waard and Freek Kinkelaar convey many alternatively bleak, if imagistic, soundscapes... drones of catatonia immersed in cryogenic guitar feedback or the steamy smelt of arcane industry. Atonal occasionally, even unearthly, yet strangely accessible, these works are part of an aesthetic wherein the forging of an unfamiliar sound canvas becomes the springboard from which the listener can extract pictures, panoramas, shapes... Engrossing music that subtly leaves the impression to come back and experience it further." (The Wire). Ltd x 1000 copies in a 6-panel digifile. Malaysian import.

Frans De Waard FRANS DE WAARD - 'Vijf Profielen' CD (Alluvial Recordings)

In November 2005, Frans de Waard (Beequeen) spent a week recording and composing on location in the small Dutch town of Vlissingen. A Marine shipyard is located in the centre of the town, but has closed due to regeneration of the area. As part of an exhibition '[Mijn] Domein', Frans De Waard was asked to reflect on this transition. He recorded the remaining activities in the building, where so called 'profiles' are made for use in shipbuilding. In this musical piece things move from hectic and busy (in the first profile) to emptiness (in the fifth profile), although it's one piece. Using mainly recordings made on site of elevators, metal cutting and room ambience, this piece is a strong work of field recordings with minor electronic processing.

Wander WANDER - 'Wander' CD (Divine Frequency)

You could be excused for being confused. Like all previous albums the new Wander album for Divine Frequency is entitled "Wander". Blame it on Frans de Waard and Freek Kinkelaar's conceptual sense of humour. You might know these boys from Beequeen, where they combine soundscapes with pop songs. When they feel like a day out they disguise themselves as Wander, and concentrate themselves on organ drones. This album is another step forward; these recordings (mostly created on ancient and dangerous synthesizers and open microphones) take Wander back to the 70's with an open, warm, spacious sound.
