While stumbling around a dark and dusty used bookstore in Manhattan's Lower East Side, Carlos Boll stumbled across a book of poetry by John Clare. Not being familiar with his work prior to this encounter he was taken aback by the beauty of Clare�s words. While maintaining a rather personal and reflective nature, the poems invoke a walk though the forest on a wonderful spring day. Being struck by such inspiration Carlos knew at once he should set some of his favourite pieces to music. Enhanced by the dulcid tones of vocalist Isabella Piombo, Carlos purposefully kept the music in the realm of traditional British folk, in homage to Clare's homeland, although modern influences certainly crept in during the recording sessions.
