"Rauhe Schale" ('Rough Shell') is the brand new album from Austrian legends Allerseelen, which fascinates musically as well as visually. However, when the Romans entered the village, the survivors decided to kill their own children, set their own belongings on fire and end their own lives. If the Empire controlled Celtiberia they could not control their people. JAHRTAL - 'William Blake - Lieder Von Unschuld Und Widerfahren' CD (Ahnstern)
This is the second album by the Austrian Psychedelic-Folk artist Jahrtal. The man behind Jahrtal is Ewald Spiss, a artist from Tyrol, who started doing electro-acoustic music and sound-installations in the early 80s. Jahrtal today is authentic psychedelic Folk music, maybe only comparable with In Gowan Ring. The lyrics of the second album are poems of "Songs Of Innocence and Of Experience" by the English poet William Blake (1757-1827), translated by Ewald Spiss, as near as possible to the original Blake-texts.
Brand new album from cult Russian Neofolk act Moon Far Away! "Minnesang" is an album of 21st century ritual music encased in a unique fusion of the most diverse and zeitgeist-capturing musical styles, from neofolk, dark folk and post punk to practically future pop. The theme of the album, the deep-rooted feminine archetypes in contemporary art, is embodied in the title, which identifies a genre of medieval knight lyrics. At the same time, most of the original Russian lyrics on the album are drenched with the trademark Pomor flavours, emphasising the pride that the band has always taken in its cultural roots that extend deep into the epic traditions of the Russian North. "Minnesang" is a new milestone achieved by a cult group who already gave contemporary art scene a number of discoveries and revelations. It has been a little over 32 since the inception and all-too-brief life span of Phase II, the prog-folk band founded by Mark Andrews (Blue Grass) and Nicholas Tesluk (Changes). "Afterglow" introduces modern listeners to Phase II's unique and timeless mixture of varied musical styles. A year after releasing his quite Martial / Neoclassical oriented debut on Cold Spring (CSR49CD), Axel got heavily involved with Alpine Folk heroes Sturmpercht and found his love in late 60s / early 70s Psych / Prog Folk music, thus changing his own direction, with the highly successful MCD 'Kristalle'. The complex arrangements and large variety of instruments even remind of The Incredible String Band and some early Acid-Folk bands. First official album by this unique Russian Folk band, based in Jerusalem. Dreamingly beautiful, sad and at the same time weird and progressive Folk songs with a gentle early 70's touch. The powerful and empathetic (Russian) vocals give a very personal and unique touch to the music of Zlye Kukly. This band is hard to compare to other artists; maybe reminding of the best Folk from Gae Bolg, or the best ballads of Boyd Rice, but mainly the great early 70's era of Yugoslavian folk artists, such as Kladivo Konj in Voda, Svremena na Vreme, Drugi Nacin and others.
