"Rauhe Schale" ('Rough Shell') is the brand new album from Austrian legends Allerseelen, which fascinates musically as well as visually. Everything moves and flows in a field of force between industrial, metal, folklore and pop. Lovers of bands like Nine Inch Nails, Einstürzende Neubauten, Laibach or Underworld could also fall in love with Allerseelen. Gerhard Hallstatt sometimes describes his music as Electronic Folklore or Apocalyptic Rock. But basically there is no real description for Allerseelen - all attempts to find an expression for their music may be valid for some time, yet lose their meaning after a couple of months or years. The songs were inspired by various magical mystery tours in Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Italy and Slovenia. First album by the Austrian Psychedelic-Folk artist Jahrtal (Ewald Spiss from 80s Industrial act Tyrol. "Lichtbuch" is a unique collection of traditional folk songs from the Alps, musical versions of poems by Joseph von Eichendorff, traditionals from England and Scotland with German translation and even a traditional Tibetan prayer. A wide and balanced instrumentation gives the album a unique touch, with a sad / optimistic mood. Jahrtal uses acoustic and electric guitars, lute, banjo, dulcimer, gzitar, harpzither, psalter, flute, duduk, schalm, violin, organ and bird song. The main influences of Jahrtal are in the end-60s and early 70s with bands like Witthüser & Westrupp, Spirogyra and C.O.B., but a comparison to the most beautiful ballads of Current 93 is inevitable as well. This is an absolutely authentic Folk album with great heart and pure soul.

JAHRTAL - 'William Blake - Lieder Von Unschuld Und Widerfahren' CD (Ahnstern)
This is the second album by the Austrian Psychedelic-Folk artist Jahrtal. The man behind Jahrtal is Ewald Spiss, a artist from Tyrol, who started doing electro-acoustic music and sound-installations in the early 80s. Jahrtal today is authentic psychedelic Folk music, maybe only comparable with In Gowan Ring. The lyrics of the second album are poems of "Songs Of Innocence and Of Experience" by the English poet William Blake (1757-1827), translated by Ewald Spiss, as near as possible to the original Blake-texts.
Brand new album from cult Russian Neofolk act Moon Far Away! "Minnesang" is an album of 21st century ritual music encased in a unique fusion of the most diverse and zeitgeist-capturing musical styles, from neofolk, dark folk and post punk to practically future pop. The theme of the album, the deep-rooted feminine archetypes in contemporary art, is embodied in the title, which identifies a genre of medieval knight lyrics. At the same time, most of the original Russian lyrics on the album are drenched with the trademark Pomor flavours, emphasising the pride that the band has always taken in its cultural roots that extend deep into the epic traditions of the Russian North. "Minnesang" is a new milestone achieved by a cult group who already gave contemporary art scene a number of discoveries and revelations. This Ahnstern version has partly different artwork to the Russian edition and the last song is completely different to the Russian version. 61 minutes of music in a digipak.
It has been a little over 32 since the inception and all-too-brief life span of Phase II, the prog-folk band founded by Mark Andrews (Blue Grass) and Nicholas Tesluk (Changes). "Afterglow" introduces modern listeners to Phase II's unique and timeless mixture of varied musical styles. Included in this expansive release are 6 songs from their original repertoire, all recorded here for the very first time. The Joy of Nature is a project from the Azores (a group of 9 islands between Europe and North America, belonging to Portugal). First official album by this unique Russian Folk band, based in Jerusalem. Dreamingly beautiful, sad and at the same time weird and progressive Folk songs with a gentle early 70's touch. The powerful and empathetic (Russian) vocals give a very personal and unique touch to the music of Zlye Kukly. This band is hard to compare to other artists; maybe reminding of the best Folk from Gae Bolg, or the best ballads of Boyd Rice, but mainly the great early 70's era of Yugoslavian folk artists, such as Kladivo Konj in Voda, Svremena na Vreme, Drugi Nacin and others.
